Fossil Fishing
Fossils can only be caught with NFT rods when used in their own fishing zone.

However, Fossil Fishing also has Mythic Pity:

Fossil FAQ
Q1) What happens when a rod has both a chance to fish fossils as well as shiny fish?
The shiny fish chance is applied AFTER the fossil chance.
Q2) How does bait interact with fossils?
Bait only affects chances when a fish is the result of the cast, not fossils.
