# Boss Fish

Boss Fish are special fishing encounters that uniquely **store player progress** as they attempt to catch it. Catching a single boss fish may take **multiple attempts.**

There are two ways to encounter Boss Fish:

1. Fishing in regular zone and Cavern
 1. **S-Rank quality fish** can be sacrificed for **1000 gold** to encounter the boss fish
2. Fishing in the Guild War zone
 1. **S-Rank and A-rank quality fish** can be sacrificed for **1000 gold** to encounter the boss fish.
 2. **Guild Baits** give a fixed 50% chance to trigger the Boss Fish sacrifice in this zone

Simply encountering a suitable quality fish will not trigger a sacrifice. Instead, there is a trigger chance based on rarity:

If the trigger chance occurs, the fish can then be sacrificed along with 1000 gold spent. If the encounter is triggered, the fish can be sacrificed to challenge the Encounter, which is more difficult than normal.

### Boss Fish Rewards

Boss Fish do not grant EXP (the sacrificed fish still does). Instead, they grant large amounts of leaderboard points.

Boss Fish are also automatically collected into the Aquarium and can be displayed there and give rewards.

### Boss Fishing Multiplier

Fishing multipliers (x5/x20) affect Boss Fishing:

Note that Boss Fish are treated as separate encounters across different multipliers. For example, progress in a x1 or x5 Boss Fish will not carry over to x20 Boss Fish.
